It seems, however, to have struck a chord at the box office, even under the looming specter of the new James Bond.

The film glamorises what we would call terrorists today. This is justified by scenes of police brutality to ensure the viewer is sympathetic to their cause. The impact of the Suffragette's is really overrated. Their actions slowed down the right to vote and it was perhaps the role of women during WW2 that did the trick.
