Using a Windows 10 laptop, and whenever I connect to Discord voice chats and try to play FF14 it mutes the game entirely and I have to exit and restart the game to fix it. Fiddling with Discord's attuning and turning off the mute setting under communications on Windows didn't do anything. Only happens with FF14 and not any other games as far as I know, which is weird. After an update on my Windows computer, my audio on FFXIV no longer plays. It is just FFXIV with this issue. I am on PC and I have tried numerous ways to get the audio back, from: -Changing my Borderless Windowed game to Windowed>Closing the game>Opening game>Going to Fullscreen mode. -Rolling back the Windows Update that happened on 12/12/2020 ... Assuming you are using windows 10, click on the speaker icon close to the clock. This will show a volume slider and a name above it. The name represents which audio device windows is sending sound to. When you click the name it's possible you get a list of names. Those are all available audio devices.

This is the problem. When you start FFXIV, it detects the output device/Speaker and configures itself to use this. This isn't a problem if you are using a sound card like Creative's Sound Blaster. When you plug in both speakers and headphones into a Sound Blaster, the card takes the output sound and just splits it between the two.
This was an issue back on the ps3 even when people had home surround setups. No cutscene audio is a bit of a know issue with the pc port. Some people have had success tabbing out of the game and changing the default sound device in windows. Just swap it to something else and then back to your headphones. 1.
