Increasing the distance does not actually make it infinite like ASE, it will end up being around 200 meters or so on the highest setting. This is still annoying, but I don't think there is a fix right now. I am looking for one right now though. might be able to increase on the config files... this is the way it is for that hosting option.

You can not fully disable it, but you can increase the range that it happens at. The setting you are looking for is "Tether Distance" or something along those lines. Despite how high you set it though, it will always happen when you enter a new "Zone", like entering a cave. It will look a lot better. The weapons won't take up so much of the screen. Just note that you may need to lower the in-game FoV after applying this fix if you already adjusted it.
