OP's post is correct. Denver is going full encryption so any scanner including a P25 scanner will be useless there. Other departments in the metro Denver area are already encrypted. They assign a radio to any news desk under an agreement to get around any freedom of the press issues. The cost of encryption has come way down in these newer systems.
