Had alread installed the fresh air block off plates to prevent backfiring. Now have 63,000. I replaced the clutch spring with a meanie spring as well as Judges Washers. Other than that just regular maintenance as the bike has been flawless. Vulcan Nomad Clutch Problem. My 1600 seems to have no clutch. When shifting from neutral to first, it just lunges forward and stalls. Checked fluid level and bled the lines, they seem fine. Bike sat for over two years, so there may be something else wrong. Any help is appreciated. I am good with a wrench, but a novice when debugging problems ... 1. Clean your ground cable where it attaches to the back of motor. Make sure its tight. 2. Disconnect your battery, make sure your wires attaching to your starter solenoid are clean and tight. Jul 20, 2014 · 1. Remove heavy cable that runs to starter from start solenoid. 2. Key on, push start button and pump should run. Maybe change fuel filter while you are in there. Fuel pump only runs if engine or starter are running. On my 01, the fuel pump comes on as soon as the key is turned.

Actually, the only REAL issue with the 04 model, is Kawasaki "tweaked" a few things starting with the 05 model. Nothing major... But stuff like the way the rear brakes connect, or the way the regulator (the thing under the radiator) is bolted to the frame. A few things here, a few things there.1. Clutch Actuator stopped working, checked the holes, problem seem fixed, drove it, not fixed. 2. Changed fluid in the clutch, problems seems fixed now, but more issues have arose. 3. Bike no longer pulls as hard as it was, almost like clutch slip.

The positive neutral finder on the Vulcans make the 1-2 shift a little clunky, that's more likely what it is. I came home from work yetserday and had no problems. The outside temp was low 50's and I always use the choke to start. Anybody got a clue where to start.

The battery is only 1 year old and gives a reading of 12.89 volts across the terminals. I have charged it repeatedly. With the switch off, there is only 0.02 mA current across the terminals which I assume is due to the running of the clock and other internal electrical settings. It just won't run with sidestand "down" and in gear, with the clutch out. So here's the troubleshoot. First check the battery voltage. It should be 12.5 or more.
