Starting to see more and more sheepshead around inshore, along with a few black drum. Boat docks, seawalls, and bridges with barnacle growth and some current will be the best bet for the sheepshead. Live shrimp is the bait of choice. The Juno Beach Pier has had a fair number of blue runners and Spanish Mackerel around. The bobber rig w/ a Clark Spoon, crappie jig, or small live bait should get the job done. Weekend Fishing Outlook (8/6-8/8/2021) OFFSHORE: Fishing was a bit slower offshore this week. Dolphin fishing remains good out deep (800-1200' of water). Most of the fish have been on the small side; but still a few around that need a little gaff assistance to come aboard. Lots of life along the 120' ledge right now. A few pomps coming on the Goofy Jig; but the better bite has been on bait, with sand fleas being the top bait choice. The Juno Beach Pier has continued to produce a few Spanish Mackerel as well. Jan 11, 2024 · OFFSHORE - Sailfish action remained fair to good offshore this week. As I write the report (early afternoon on Thursday) 50 boats fishing the Silver Sailfish Derby have released right at 60 sailfish. For the most part the last few weeks have played out at about the same rate...at least a bite or two for most, with a few seeing four or five. From the Juno Beach Pier a white crappie jig is the top lure choice for the Mackerel. Mixed in with the Spanish Mackerel will be some bluefish and jacks. The same lures will work for the jacks and bluefish. A pretty good number of croaker and whiting in the first trough over the past week. Small pieces of fresh shrimp is the bait of choice.Pompano reports were fair along the beach, with a decent scattering of pomps from south of the Juno Beach Pier up to Jupiter Inlet. It wasn't huge numbers for anybody; but 2-3 fish with a few limits seemed to be the norm. Sandfleas and Fishbites continue to be top bait choices for the pomps. The pompano were caught best on Doc's Goofy Jigs; with a few coming on sandfleas and FishBites as well. The Bluefish were biting poppers and diamond jigs the best. Chunks of mullet and sardines will also get the bluefish's attention.
