If you don't have any mods affecting the bound weapon perks, I'd recommend stopping at Mystic Binding. Once you take one of the later perks bound weapons count as enchanted and won't work with the Elemental Fury shout and that huge attack speed boost. Another shout option is Dragon Aspect, the first word gives you additional power attack damage.

Sword is better in normal combat. But if you play assassin and got assassins blade perk use dagger. Daggers are better if you have the Sneak perk for them. Also if you have DB armour on so you get the ×30 multiplier happening. If you were also going to be sneaky use dagger otherwise use sword since it can also block.

I for one enjoy using bound weapons because Enchanting/Smithing/Alchemy is OP and having one equipment that doesn't rely on those three makes it fulfilling to actually fight with. There are mods out there that improve bound weapons, and even mods that lets you conjure bound shields and armors for the ultimate bound playthrough lol.
