The SIG P226 has the best track record for any magazine-fed pistol that I'm aware of. The downsides are the increased price, heavier weight and larger size. The Glock 19 also has an excellent track record, but Gen 4 Glocks aren't as good as Gen 3 Glocks in my experience and research.

My agency issued the P226/229 in .40 starting from the transition from revolvers in the mid 1990’s until 2018. The 226 was given to patrol and the 229 was issued to female officers and plain clothes investigators/admin. In 2018 we transitioned to the Glock 17/19. I’d have kept my Sig if given the choice.
