Mage will be painful progression and takes a lot of coins. My advice is progress to F7 as berserker (maybe archer at later lvls) then switch to mage when you have hyperion. Without a hyperion you will not get parties on F7 or above. For outside dungeons aurora gear (mage gear from crimson isles) is cheap to startup.For this setup you can also grab a Sharp FOT for room clearing.
