2014 silverado temp gauge not working fans on high.

Fan still running for a few minutes after truck turned off. I drove my truck today 2019 colorado v6. It was about 50 degrees (F) outside. When I got home the fan stayed on even when the key was out I also noticed the temp gauge stayed at 160 the whole drive (basically didn't move). The fan noise is coming form the front end of the truck.A tstat failure forced the car to go into a recovery mode where the fans stay on at full blast and the temp gauge pegs to zero. I don’t know why gm made it such that it overrides the temp gauge but the tstat is likely your problem. Very common c7 failure. it is indeed dumb that the temp gauge gets blanked out essentially.If sustained reading, check cooling fan, coolant level, reduce load, AC, turn on heater. Absent those 3 circumstances, the fan will not continue running after turning off the car.
